Mixed Surface
& Road Riding
With Moshannon State Forest to the west and Rothrock to the east, there are abundant opportunities to create mixed-surface loops of all distances and varieties. Feel free to reach out and we will help you plan some routes to suit your interests, and check out some of our favorites on RideWithGPS.
Mountain Biking
Rothrock State Forest trails are 25 minutes away to the northeast, while Allegrippis is about 45 minutes to the south. For a quick, fairly mellow ride, roll out the back door and onto a mix of singletrack and doubletrack on the newly-acquired Dry Hollow Tract of Rothrock State Forest.
Paddling
The Little Juniata River is just 15 minutes away and offers gorgeous Class I-II paddling, while the Red Moshannon is a bit farther with Class II+ whitewater. Other runs in the area include Spring Creek, Kish Creek, Clearfield Creek, and more. There is also flatwater paddling at numerous lakes in the region.
Trail Running
& Hiking
Centrally-located between two state forests, there are an abundance of trails in every direction. Long-distance trails in the area include the Mid-State and Allegheny Front Trail, with many loop options for day hikes. We also have 1,300 acres of state forest out the back door to explore. Let us know your interests and we can help plan a route.
XC Skiing
When there's snow, we have excellent cross-country skiing out the back door on the 1,300-acre Dry Hollow Tract of Rothrock State Forest. Black Moshannon is also close by (20 min), which typically gets more snow and holds it longer due to its higher elevation and weather patterns.
and more!
Fly-fishing, dual-sport riding, wildlife viewing, or just relaxing at a quiet spot in the woods -- we are your home base for exploring the outdoors in central Pennsylvania.
